On Saturday 12th May, an exciting event took place on SNP square in Bratislava – practitioners of Falun Gong celebrated World Falun Dafa Day. On 13th May, 1992, 15 years ago, Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, introduced this cultivation system to the public. Fifteen years later, Falun Dafa has spread to over 100 million people 70 countries and practitioners all over the world are celebrating the Eighth World Falun Dafa Day.

The passers-by on the square could see not only the five sets of Falun Gong exercises, but also a dance presentation accompanied by traditional Chinese music. Many passers-by stopped and admired the beautiful costumes and slow movements of the dancers. Colourful balloons were given out to many children and even some adults.

A petition calling for an end to the persecution against Falun Gong was also part of the event. Many people, including foreign tourists, came to sign it, after seeing the beauty of Falun Gong in contrast with the ongoing human rights abuses against practitioners in China.
