On the morning of June 25th, 2007, the New Zealand branch of "The Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong" (CIPFG) held a press conference entitled "Our Sister City Holding the Genocide Olympics." It was held at the Stamford Plaza Hotel in Auckland, and hosted by three well-known human rights lawyers of New Zealand, who are also members of CIPFG.
Lawyer Carole Curtis |
As the spokesperson of CIPFG, Lawyer Carole Curtis explained why she joined CIPFG. She said that she was too young to be involved with World War I and II, but she wants to join CIPFG because, as a lawyer, especially a lawyer in this field, she wants to assist in stopping the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from persecuting Falun Gong and harvesting organs from live Falun Gong practitioners for reasons of her heart and moral justice.
Lawyer Richard McLeod |
Lawyer Richard McLeod said that if New Zealanders knew the terrible fact that the CCP is harvesting organs from live Falun Gong practitioners, New Zealanders wouldn't go to Beijing for the Olympics.
Human Rights Lawyer Kerry Gore |
Lawyer Kerry Gore said that this was a quite appalling matter, and as a New Zealand human rights lawyer, he will collaborate with other CIPFG members to stop this persecution, and not let it continue to happen.
Dr. Catherine Casey, a CIPFG member, an Auckland Council member, and a Dr. of Social Science, conceded to a private interview after the conference |
Dr. Catherine Casey said as a councilor of Auckland City Council, she will tell her colleagues and mayor about the CCP harvesting organs from live Falun Gong practitioners. Furthermore, if the Human Rights Torch Relay arrives in Auckland, she would like to attend the formal ceremony to pass the human rights flame.
The New Zealand branch of "The Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong" (CIPFG) was formed in 2007 and is a part of the Oceania Chapter. Members include a Supreme Court Judge, members of parliament, councillors, and people from all social circles.
