What is happening in China right now is probably the grossest violation of human rights in the history of the world. Three years ago, prior to the persecution of Falun Gong in China, the movement there counted 70 million followers. Falun Gong has in the meantime become a worldwide movement and the Chinese government is impotent to suppress it.
Chinas ruling Party has lost her moral authority, a circumstance that will become more and more obvious. China already has to deal with strikes and handle a spontaneous labour movement that seeks better working conditions. Many of those strikes target foreign companies, which are there as a result of investments from abroad, and Jiangs regime battles these strike and labour movements more severely than any capitalist would.
Without moral authority of any kind, all governments will succumb. I predict that, if social unrest and problems increase, the Chinese government entities will suddenly realize that peaceful citizens, such as the Falun Gong followers, are of inestimable value. It cannot be ruled out that at one time in the future Jiang might be grateful to the Falun Gong movement for its followers compassion.
