Belgium: Falun Gong Practitioners Participate in the ‘Retrouvailles’ in Liège

Every year in Liège, the largest French speaking city of Belgium, an event called ‘Retrouvailles’ (Reunion) take place in the beautiful surroundings of the 'Parc de la Boverie’. The cultural, social and sporting life of Liège come together to offer a unique and colourful environment of recreation enjoyed by thousands of families. This event marks specially the beginning of the new academic and professional year. This year the ‘Retrouvailles’ took place on the 1st and the 2nd of September and, as expected, tens of thousands of people visited it.

Falun Gong practitioners have been taking part in this event for the last few years to raise awareness about the practice and expose the brutal persecution of practitioners in China. In a very nice waterfront setting and amidst the oriental practice stands, stood the Falun Gong stall. With an orderly table packed with leaflets, pamphlets and other material, balloons for the children and through the demonstration of the Falun Gong exercises, practitioners were able to reach a large group of people with many of them showing interest in learning the practice.

At the back of the stall a banner was hung exposing the cruel persecution and the organ harvesting of fellow practitioners in China. People stopped to read the information on the banner and showed concern for all the atrocities. They expressed their wish that they would end soon. Moreover, the ideal situation of the stall allowed practitioners to hang facing the stall a large yellow banner with the words ‘Falun Dafa’; the banner was clearly visible from the other side of the park so thousands of visitors were able to read it from a far.
