New Tang Dynasty Television's Chinese New Year Spectacular, performed by the Divine Performing Arts touring company, will be staged at the Nokia Theatre, in Los Angeles, CA, on January 18th-20th, 2008. During the Christmas holiday period, the Divine Performing Arts performed ten shows at the Beacon Theatre on Broadway in New York City, earning a multitude of accolades.

On the occasion of the upcoming Chinese New Year Spectacular in Los Angeles, federal, state, and city government officials have issued proclamations or written congratulatory letters to the organizers of the show. These officials include US Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, California Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, California Assemblymember Anthony Portantino, and mayor Mickey Segal of the City of Arcadia.

US Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez said in a greeting message: "I along with the US Congress commend the significant Chinese New Year celebration event through dance, background scenery, and costume, without communist culture. I warmly congratulate the event and wish everyone a thriving, happy, and healthy New Year."

The City of Cerritos in the Southern California has a high proportion of Chinese residents. The city council believes that "the Chinese New Year Spectacular at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, as part of the 200 touring shows in 65 cities around the world, is a showcase of rich Chinese history and culture, and that the Spectacular will inspire and educate the audience to understand the true Chinese culture."

The Redondo Beach City Council wrote in a proclamation: "We, on behalf of the City of Redondo Beach, extend our best wishes to you and wish you a wonderful and unforgettable celebration, and wish you continued success."

According to the preparatory committee for the Los Angeles show, over 200 VIPs and guests plan to attend the reception, which is unprecedented. Earlier this month, an Orange County chairman received a harassing letter from Chinese Consulate, attempting to dissuade him from attending the Spectacular. The chairman has confirmed he will attend the VIP and guest reception.
