In May 2008, US Congressman James P. McGovern from Massachusetts wrote the following letter to Falun Dafa practitioners in Greater Worcester to congratulate them on celebrating World Falun Dafa Day.

To The Greater Worcester Falun Dafa Practitioners:
I am proud to write today to congratulate you on celebrating World Falun Dafa Day.
It has been sixteen years since Mr. Li Hongzhi started publicly spreading Falun Dafa to the world community. This powerful spiritual practice that is based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance deserves to be commended.
Today you stand proudly with over one hundred million people who practice Falun Dafa from eighty countries throughout the world. Despite the persecution that continues in China, these beliefs continue to thrive. This is a fact to be extremely proud of.
I regret that I cannot be with you to celebrate today, but again please accept my most sincere Congratulations.
