Indonesia: Practitioners Hold Candlelight Vigil to Protest the Persecution

July 20th, 2008 marked the ninth year of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong. During the nine years, Falun Gong practitioners have remained calm and peaceful while spreading the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to the world's people. They have also clarified the truth about the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong, and remained steadfast in their determination to end the persecution. On the afternoon of July 19th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners in Jakarta, Indonesia gathered in a garden to call for an end to the CCP's brutality, and commemorate the deceased practitioners in China.

Stop the Persecution and Awaken the World's People to the Truth

The CCP vowed to eliminate Falun Gong in three months [nine years ago when it started the persecution]. The CCP has spread negative rumours and lies to defame Falun Gong around the world, but it did not foresee the results of their actions. During this time Falun Gong has been introduced in over 80 countries, and more and more people have awakened from the CCP's slanderous propaganda, repositioned themselves, and firmly supported Falun Gong practitioners in efforts to end the persecution.

At 4:00 p.m. on July 19th, 2008, practitioners in Jakarta gathered in a garden. They held banners facing the busy street where vehicles continuously passed by. Messages on the banners included, "Oppose the Persecution Peacefully and Rationally," "The Chinese Communist Party is not China," "Disintegrate the CCP and Put an End to the Persecution." The messages expressed the practitioners' determination to end the persecution and also attracted a lot of attention from passersby.

Practitioners also passed out truth clarifying materials to passersby, and many people took the materials on their own. Practitioners share the feeling that more and more people are accepting the materials on their own initiatives, and are more and more friendly.

Candlelight Vigil to Mourn for Practitioners who have Died as a Result of the Persecution

At 6:00 p.m., after the night fell, practitioners lit candles, and silently mourned for fellow practitioners in China who have died as a result of the CCP's persecution. The music "Pu Du" was played in the background, and the candlelights illuminated the dark night, also reflecting the practitioners' peaceful and firm facial expressions. The candles kept flickering, sending forth brightness to others, until the lights faded into the darkness. More than 3,000 Falun Gong practitioners who have died as a result of the persecution have awakened numerous kind-hearted people who send out their righteous voices: Stop the persecution!
