At 15:00 on August 6th, the Polish Falun Gong Association, The Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China (CIPFG), and other NGOs co-sponsored a news conference in Warsaw, appealing to all parties to be concerned about China's human rights situatio. In particular, they raised awareness regarding the increased persecution of Falun Gong before the Beijing Olympics, and issued a public appeal to Polish people to make their voices heard to end the CCP’s comprehensive human rights persecution.
At the same time the press conference announced the result of a "global million signature collection campaign". A total of 1.35 million signatures have been collected from 133 countries worldwide condemning CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong. Poland has more than 4,000 people involved in collecting signatures.
President Miroslaw Chojecki of the Polish Association of Freedom of Expression spoke first. Mr. Chojecki, who struggled against communism for a long time, had made an outstanding contribution to the process of Poland’s going towards freedom and democracy; he is also the founder of the Polish Association of Freedom of Expression. He said, "A few days ago, my friend Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn died. At the same time when we commemorate him, you cannot hellp but be reminded of his words: "In the world of democratic western countries, so far no one is willing to believe that in communist countries, in the country of the proletarian, there is a fact that the labour camp is there. But today, in China which is ruled by the Chinese Communist Party, you will find that this is not only a fact, the numbers of them are so much, that the labour camps are located even in the vicinity of the Olympic venues, where tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners are detained. Falun Gong is an ancient practice of traditional Chinese methods. This (persecution) is our humanity's shame, we must stop this evil!”
At the news conference, the representative of CIPFG Poland, Marcin Hakemer-Fernandez announced the "China labour through education facility Guide", and called on the Polish media entering into China to make field surveys about the world's largest human rights catastrophe, and take it to the public the evil of CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong.
Mr. Wong, on behalf the Polish Association of Falun Gong spoke at the conference: "Recently, the CCP is taking the Olympics as a pretext for escalating the persecution of Falun Gong; the illegal arrest cases in the past six months were nearly 10,000, The vicious news that Falun Gong practitioners were persecuted to death and mutilation comes ceaselessly. We strongly urge the Polish community and all international organisations to maintain justice, to end the CCP’s comprehensive human rights persecution in the Olympic Games. "
On the same day, the representatives of the Polish Association of the Falun Gong and of the CIPFG submitted the results of "The global anti-persecution’s millions of signatures collection" to the Office of President Lecha Kaczynski of Poland, the Office of the Polish Prime Minister Donalda Tusk, the Office of the Polish Foreign Minister Radolawa Sikorski and into the hands of members of Poland’s Congress-men Bronislawa Komorowskiy and Bogdan Borusewicza.
