Spain: Practitioners hold Activities at the 2008 Zaragoza Expo Site

Though the three month long 2008 Zaragoza Expo in Spain has come to a close, the Expo site has become a famous tourist attraction for holiday makers. Falun Gong practitioners came to the tiny park near the Pasarela Delvoluntariado, one of the Expo’s landmark facilities, to raise awareness about Falun Gong and expose the inhuman genocidal persecution in China.

A man got off his bicycle to ask a practitioner, “What is Falun Gong?” The practitioner replied, “Falun Gong is an ancient Chinese cultivation practice based on the universal principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance. The movements of its five sets of exercises are very peaceful and easy to learn. It requires its practitioners to cultivate in the ordinary people’s society and it won’t affect their normal work or studies. When encountering conflicts or benefits, practitioners should look at things according to the criteria of Truthfulness Compassion Tolerance, so that they are able to upgrade their level explicitly. Before really benefiting from the cultivation practice physically and spiritually, without having steadfast belief in the righteous cultivation practice, people nowadays tend to give up this great cultivation way in the face of material benefits and the cruel persecution. Falun Gong books have been translated into over 30 languages. Now that Falun Gong has been practiced by over 100 million people in more than 80 countries around the world so far, it is evident that there must be something different from other cultivation practices. The man said that he was interested in the practice and would look into it further.

As to the frequently asked question, “Why has the persecution happened?” practitioners explained that since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) took power, about 80 million people, which is almost twice the population of Spain, have been killed in an era of peace. The CCP maintains its autocratic power by means of lies and violence and using the prosperity on the surface to cover up its vicious atrocities. As the Truthfulness Compassion Tolerance is like a mirror that is able to reflect the regime’s evil nature, the CCP was so fearful and jealous that it launched this cruel persecution.

After listening for a while, many people said that they would like to help Falun Gong practitioners against the persecution. Florentino was among the passersby to express their support for Falun Gong, but practitioners didn’t ask him to sign the petition right away since they didn’t have a pen with them. Florentino thus reminded the practitioners to take out the petition. He signed it with his own pen happily so as to condemn the CCP’s atrocities.

Anna passed the site in a hurry. Practitioners explained to her that Falun Gong is a cultivation practice that can help people keep fit and upgrade their human morality and that it has been persecuted by the CCP over the past nine years. She viewed the display boards depicting the CCP’s atrocities in shock. She then signed the petition without a second thought. When seeing the display boards, a woman exclaimed “My goodness!” from time to time. She told the practitioners that she hoped the persecution could be ended as soon as possible. In addition, a man also shook hands with practitioners and wished them good luck.
