Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company performed its fourth of eight shows at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles on the evening of January 2nd, 2009.
"I really enjoyed it!"
Joe Belas, a retired investor, was interviewed at intermission. Without hesitation, he said, "It's pure. It's very elegant. I enjoyed it because of the music and the artists. Very impressive. I really enjoyed it."
He found it very difficult to pick out his favourite dance or act of the show, saying, "They are all so different, and they have different appeal, and I must say that there is not a single one that I didn't enjoy. So I am looking forward to the second half of the show."
"I am very glad I came"
Ms. Mic Hansen, a cancer control specialist, said that a friend of hers in Pasadena bought her tickets to the show. "I love it. It's beautiful. It's very good. So I am very glad I came."
She particularly liked the choreography, "I liked the way the colours and the backdrop interacted with each dance number that was being presented."
When asked what her favorite part of the show was, she said, "I like the tenor. He was quite good. There isn't anything I don't like. It's so hard to answer that question."
Ms. Hansen mentioned that she had seen Chinese acrobatic shows before but preferred the DPA show. "There is a certain amount of athletic ability that the dancers must have in both (types of shows). I like this better," she said.
She concluded by saying, "I think the costumes are just beautiful. And I think the choreography is good."
A retired business executive was also interviewed during intermission. When asked what she liked most about the show, she replied, "The fluidity. It's very fluid and graceful."
