Falun Dafa Day Celebrations in Stockholm

To draw attention to the tenth anniversary of Li Hongzhi’s introduction of Falun Dafa to the public, the Swedish practitioners held a celebration with song, music and dance in Kungsträdgården, Stockholm on the 13th of May 2002.

The day started with a parade, beginning at the Chinese embassy, through the centre of the city where the beautiful Pudu music spread peace and harmony to the people on the streets of Stockholm on their lunch break.

It was a day of light and joy and the spring warm air and the mostly shining sun helped the practitioners to even more make this day a magnificent manifestation of the universal principles Zhen, Shan, Ren.

Lotta Edholm, a member of the city council from the Peoples Party, opened the celebration with a speech that focused on the great need of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance in the world, and paid special attention to the urgent need of international political pressure against the Chinese governments persecution of Falun Gong. Anna Maria Marti, a member of the Swedish parliament from the peoples party, gave a speech about the persecution of Falun Gong in China from a historic point of view that revealed that in the end the good always defeats the evil: “It was never those who sought a spiritual home in this world that surrendered, it was always the persecutors who had to surrender and disappear!”.

From the stage by the fountain in Kungsträdgården Chinese songs and music were performed accompanied by beautiful dancing.

The Falun Gong exercises were demonstrated by a number of practitioners in a beautiful combination.

At 17:55 all present practitioners joined every other practitioner in the world in a global Fa Zheng Nian, a meditation where the practitioner for fifteen minutes focuses the mind on supporting the persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China.

After the sunset, a candlelight vigil began to draw attention to the cruel and unjust persecution in China. Around 23:00 the vigil was moved to the Chinese embassy, where the celebration ended by midnight.

For ten years Falun Gong has been spread all over the world. During these ten years millions of people have found happiness, hope and comfort in this deep, simple and powerful cultivation way. During these ten years, so many peoples lives have turned from darkness to light, from sleep to awareness and from sickness and pain to faith and reconciliation, and for the ten years that follows will most certainly many more people discover the richness and goodness that this day – the International Falun Dafa Day – was celebrated in Stockholm.
