Recently, I went to Taiwan with my husband. Before leaving mainland China, the Chinese authorities warned us: "Remember, when you see Falun Gong practitioners in Taiwan, make sure not to approach them, and walk away if they approach you. Most important is that you must not accept their fliers."
After arriving at Chiang Kai-shek International Airport (also known as Taoyuan International Airport) in Taiwan, we took a tour bus to Taipei. Before I got on the bus, I saw several people handing out fliers. It was about 7:00 p.m. I was unable to see clearly the words on the fliers due to the darkness, so I asked them, "What kind of fliers are you handing out?" They replied, "It is about the persecution of Falun Gong." As soon as I heard that, I eagerly took one and said loudly, "Thanks! You work so hard!" My husband also took one and so did the rest of the tourists in our group.
Before leaving China, a fellow practitioner told me to share my experiences with Taiwanese fellow practitioners. When we were on the way to Shuan Guang Temple from Sun Moon Lake, a popular tourist spot, we saw that practitioners had set up nearby to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa and distribute the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. Once again I eagerly took some materials and thanked them, too. Later, while standing in front of Shuan Guang Temple, I told my husband, "I don't want to go inside to visit Shuan Guang Temple. I want to talk to them (Taiwanese fellow practitioners) for a little while." My husband understood, so he didn't go inside the temple either. He slowly followed me down to the practitioners' exhibition site.
It was just about noon and they were sending forth righteous, so I sat on a stone stair to send forth righteous thoughts, too. After sending forth righteous thoughts, I came over to greet them with my hands in the Heshi position and said, "You work so hard! I am so glad to meet you. I am a fellow practitioner from mainland China." As soon as they heard that, they were very happy. They knew the practitioners who live in mainland China are being persecuted and don't have a safe environment in which to cultivate, so they replied, "You also work hard!" They encouraged me to take the Fa as Teacher, to conduct myself well with righteous thoughts, to do the three things (study the Fa [the teachings of Falun Dafa], send forth righteous thoughts and clarify the truth about Falun Dafa and about the persecution to the world's people) well, and to diligently cultivate.
They were so compassionate and pure, and, although we had just met, we talked like old friends, and those few moments made me happier than seeing any beautiful tourist spot.
One of them told me that she had some Chinese yuan left from before and she wanted to give them to me. I told her that I wasn't short of money and that she should keep it for herself. After I expressed my appreciation for her offer, I said goodbye to the rest of the practitioners and then went to the lakeside where a boat was waiting for us to board. Just as I was about to get on the boat, the practitioner who had the Chinese yuan caught up to me and asked me again to accept her money. I was moved by her kindness and sincerity, so I accepted it and said, "I will take your money to our material production site to make truth-clarification materials to save more predestined people. Thank you so much!" After I got back to mainland China, I shared this story with my local practitioners and they, too, were very happy and moved.
I saw the same scene again at the Sacred Tree of Shianglin in Ali Mountain. Some elderly practitioners were holding display boards while others were distributing Dafa informational materials to tourists and trying to persuade their mainland compatriots to quit the CCP (Chinese communist party) and its affiliated organizations. When they saw me, they urged me to withdraw from the CCP so that I might have bright blessings in the future. After I told them that I had already quit the CCP, they immediately said, "Congratulations Congratulations!" I told them that I was a fellow practitioner who came from mainland China. I said, "You climbed such a high mountain in order to save mainland compatriots. You work hard! Thank you so much." Knowing that I was their mainland fellow practitioner, they were pleased to encourage me to conduct myself well with righteous thoughts, do the three things well, and walk well the last stage of my cultivation journey.
After having dinner in Kaohsiung County, we went to visit the former British Consulate. While climbing the stone stairs, my husband said to me, "Look, there are your people!" To my left, I saw three practitioners putting away their display boards . It seemed that they had finished their Dafa work for the day. It was after 8:00 p.m. I couldn't stop to talk to them because I was with my tour group so I could only silently say, "My fellow practitioners, you work hard! Thank you!" A tourist behind me said, "It is so late but they are still promoting Falun Gong. Somebody must have hired them. I replied, "No, no one pays them. They are all volunteers. What they do is out of their compassion to save mainland Chinese." Several of the other tourists talked about how they could not bring the materials back to China. I told them that they could get the materials home by putting them in their luggage.
During this trip to Taiwan, I saw that the Taiwanese practitioners conducted themselves well with righteous thoughts and were doing the three things well according to Teacher's requests. In order to save their mainland compatriots, they work hard and sacrifice their own comfort. They have no fear of climbing high mountains, walking steep roads, or enduring inclement weather conditions.
When I compared them to myself I realized that I still had the attachments of fear and laziness and that I sought comfort along with many other human mentalities. With those attachments, I was unable to save more people and thus I felt ashamed.
My purpose in writing this article is to encourage myself to take the Fa as Teacher to remove my attachments of fear, seeking ease and comfort, and other human mentalities; to learn from my Taiwanese fellow practitioners so that I can rationally and wisely do the three things well, diligently cultivate, and walk well my path in this the last stage of cultivation.
I also hope that all the practitioners from mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, the US, Canada, and other places and countries can become one body to do the three things well so that we can fulfil our prehistoric vows and welcome the coming of the Fa rectifying the human world. Only then will we be worthy of Master's arduous salvation!
