Falun Gong practitioners in Toronto call on the Korean government not to yield to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) pressure |
The Korean government secretly deported three Falun Gong practitioner asylum applicants back to China on July 1st and 28th, 2009. Currently, two practitioners are facing forceful deportation. The incident has caught the attention of the international community.
Falun Gong practitioners in Toronto held banners worded, "Don't Yield to the CCP's Pressure," and, "Korea: Stop Deportation of Falun Gong Practitioners."
Practitioner Xiaoce Li said, "The Korean government is independent and does not need to bend to the CCP. We think such action does not consider human rights and is morally wrong."
"Actually, we all know that Falun Gong practitioners are brutally persecuted in China, and some of them are used for live organ harvesting," she said. "Falun Gong practitioners face torture and are under pressure to renounce Falun Gong if they are deported to China. It is shameful to deport Falun Gong practitioners back to China for the sake of immediate interest."
Ms. Zhang, a representative from the Global Mission to Rescue Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners, said, "We believe that the CCP regime is intimidating the Korean government to be its accomplice again. Deporting Falun Gong practitioners back to China means handing them over them to the persecutor."
Several Korean professionals from the judicial system said that the forceful deportation violates the UN Refugee Convention, the UN Convention Against Torture and immigrations laws.
The reporter entered the consulate and attempted to interview two officials. They refused to accept an interview. A consul accepted the petition letter from the Global Mission to Rescue Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners.
