On 11th July 2009, Falun Gong practitioners in Germany held a rally and parade in Berlin calling for an end to the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution against the spiritual practice.
On 20th July 1999, ten years ago, the CCP started to suppress Falun Gong on a large scale. On 11th July 2009, before the weekend of 20th July, Falun Gong practitioners in Germany held a rally in front of the Chinese Embassy in Germany, protesting against the CCP's human rights abuses.

Mr Schedler, a representative from the “Organisation for Persecuted People” (Gesellschaft fuer bedrohte Voelke) made a speech, condemning the CCP for the deaths of at least 3000 Falun Gong practitioners. He said, “Ten years ago, the CCP started to brutally persecute Falun Gong practitioners systematically. It has been reported by the United Nations that 66 methods of torture have been used on Falun Gong practitioners in China. Falun Gong practitioners have even had their organs removed and sold to foreign patients. However, the policemen who have taken part in the persecution have been rewarded instead of being punished by the law … China is not only bound by its own law but also the universal law of human rights … The Organisation for Persecuted People will carry on making efforts to bring to justice those who are responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong.”

A representative from the Falun Dafa Association in Germany read an open letter to all governments in the world, calling on all countries to support freedom and human rights.
In the afternoon, the European Divine Land Marching Band lead the parade for three kilometres from the Potsdam Square to the square in front of William's Memorial Church.
