On Saturday, October 3, 2009, Falun Gong practitioners held an activity in Chinatown, London, to introduce Falun Gong and let people know about the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s persecution of the practice. The event was also held to express support for the 61 million Chinese people that have quit the CCP and its affiliated organisations.

The practitioners first took part in the parade organised by the Global Coalition for Quitting the CCP. The parade set off from the Chinese Embassy, passed through central London's busy business district, and continued to Chinatown. After walking through Chinatown twice, the procession stopped for a short time at the pagoda in Chinatown. The theme of the parade was read out in Chinese: "Only by disintegrating the CCP can the persecution be stopped."
The practitioners then split into three groups to distribute information telling the facts in Chinatown, Leicester Square (near Chinatown), and St. Martin Place.
Saturdays are busy days in London. It was also the time of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and many Chinese people were visiting Chinatown. Many of them were shocked to learn about the CCP's crimes. Within one day in Chinatown, over 200 people announced their withdrawals from the CCP and its affiliated organisations.
A Scottish couple were drawn in by practitioners' singing |
In Chinatown, practitioners handed out flyers, promoted quitting the CCP, and also sang songs composed by practitioners. A couple from Scotland listened for a long time. The wife told the reporter: "The songs are really so beautiful, but I noticed that some Chinese people who passed by seemed indifferent to such beautiful singing." After hearing about the CCP's lies and how the Chinese people are misled, she held up the Falun Gong flyer in her hand and said, "China really is a strange country--they (the CCP authorities) don't like people to rise up."
Leicester Square is a major gathering point in London. On the weekends, visitors come from all over. Falun Gong practitioners set up an information stall on the Square. Some of them handed out flyers, collected signatures to protest the persecution, and encouraged Chinese people to withdraw from the CCP. Tony, a young man, saw the poster boards exposing the CCP's atrocity of harvesting organs from living practitioners and immediately signed his name to condemn it. He enquired about what he could do to stop this crime.

A lady passing by paused and read the display boards very carefully. She asked a practitioner nearby what Falun Gong was and why the CCP persecutes it. After the practitioner explained it to her, she asked: "Do you think that China can free itself from the control of the Communist system?" The practitioner said, "Didn't the changes in Eastern Europe happen unexpectedly in a brief moment?" The lady responded, "How wonderful!"
