Understandings in Cultivation: Letting Go of the Attachment of Selfishness

Fellow practitioners have written many articles on this subject. Now I am writing about it from another angle.

In the past, sentient beings became impure because of selfishness. Therefore, after a lengthy time, they reached the verge of life and death. Were Falun Dafa not introduced to the world, everything would be disintegrated as it happened in the past. Then, as cultivators walking on the path toward godhood, if we are too attached to ourselves or to the projects we are doing, isn't it a manifestation of selfishness?

Only by cultivating into an enlightened being with no selfishness can one enter the new cosmos. This is a requirement of the Fa. It cannot be changed and everyone has to obey it without exception. Then, upon encountering various incidents, why not let go of human notions in this respect?

Teacher said, “I can give up to the greatest extent possible everything of mine, and that is why I can resolve all of it” (“Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Switzerland”). We cannot compare ourselves to Teacher, but I think Teacher has unveiled for us a way to resolve everything. My understanding is that only by completely letting go of ourselves are we able to do well all of the things that we are supposed to do.

Therefore, I think that on the path toward godhood, regardless of what we do, we have to completely let go of selfishness and human notions. Only when completely assimilated to Dafa can we save sentient beings to the maximum extent and not let down Teacher's compassionate salvation. Only in this way can we fulfil our sacred, prehistoric vows.
