Augsburg was founded in 15BC during the period of the Roman Emperor Augustus. It is situated in between Landsberg and the North side of the Alps, and is the third largest city in the state of Bavaria after Munich and Nuremberg. The 8th of August is the official holiday of this old city, and is called “Peace Day” in Augsburg. To commemorate this holiday, in August 2009, there have been celebrations of peace all over Augsburg, and activities held against violence. For instance, on the 18th of July a “peace and culture day“ was held in the municipal hall, and the “Divine Land Marching Band” – made up of Falun Gong practitioners – was invited and well received by the organisers and onlookers.
During the information day on 1st August, many people expressed great interest when they heard how Falun Gong practitioners are being persecuted by the CCP.
Ms. Magritte came to know the truth of the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong on an information day held several years previously. She is now very keen to enable those around her to understand the inhuman things that are happening in China.
Today she once again met Falun Gong practitioners, and as if she had seen old friends, she felt especially happy. She said: “It has been several years, and you are still persisting, which truly moves me. You are doing the right thing, as long as the persecution has not finished, you certainly must persist, all the way until it is stopped. Amazing, you certainly must persist! I support you for ever!”
A young man called Peter, who had just graduated, was attracted by Falun Gong’s harmonious exercises. He watched with interest the Falun Gong practitioners who were demonstrating the exercises. When he found out that such peaceful exercises are being persecuted by the CCP in China he felt that it was unimaginable. “Everyone should have freedom of belief. My belief helped give me strength and courage when I became very ill, and even enabled me to become healthy again. From what I have learnt and my experiences, I believe that for a person to have no beliefs is very pitiful”.
A couple, by the name of Schloss were moved upon seeing the large “Zhen – Shan – Ren” (“Truth – Compassion – Tolerance”) in print, and upon seeing the information boards showing the spread of Falun Gong around the world. Upon coming to know of the cruel torture and persecution that Falun Gong practitioners are a victim to in mainland China, and how Falun Gong practitioners have had their organs harvested by the CCP while still alive, they felt startled and found it difficult to comprehend. “This really makes it hard for us to comprehend it [the CCP]. What do they think they are doing?” The Schloss family expressed their resentment towards the CCP’s persecution
