Shen Yun Performing Arts performed in three Florida cities during the last week of January, bringing 5,000 years of authentic Chinese culture to a large, receptive audience. For the second year in a row, Shen Yun performed at the Mahaffey Theatre in downtown St. Petersburg. Two Friday performances included an evening show and a matinée performance, which was attended by delighted groups of schoolchildren.
United States Representative Kathy Castor, of the 11th District of Florida, sent a warm letter of greeting and appreciation, to welcome Shen Yun Performing Arts to St. Petersburg. In her letter, Representative Castor wrote,
"I am amazed by the blending of sheer beauty and the rich history of the ancient Chinese culture. The talent of the dancers and musicians is stunning, and undoubtedly the product of much hard work and discipline - much to the benefit of all audiences that have a chance to experience their art.
Thank you for bringing such a wonderful cultural experience to the Bay area. Best wishes for your upcoming performance!"
