On April 25 and days before and after, Falun Gong practitioners held commemorative events outside of Chinese consulates in Frankfurt, Berlin, and Munich, continuing the peaceful appeal to protest and stop the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong.
Frankfurt: Chinese students withdraw from the Communist Youth League
On April 23, 2010, Frankfurt practitioners went to the Chinese Consulate. They held up banners reading "Falun Dafa" and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" and demonstrated the exercises. Two Chinese students learned the facts about the persecution and decided to withdraw from the Communist Youth League, an organisation of the Chinese Communist Party.
Many people going into and coming out of the consulate were drawn by the exercise demonstration. One middle-aged man from Africa learned and practiced the second exercise at the demonstration. He felt so good that he asked for an address and schedule to learn the other exercises. Many others took brochures.
Berlin: "The Communist Party will persecute Falun Gong even if there was no 4.25 appeal"
On April 25, Berlin practitioners rallied in front of the Chinese Consulate in Berlin to protest the persecution of Falun Gong.
Sabine, a practitioner, lived in East Germany for most of her life. She used to be a court secretary. She believes that all communist countries want to control people's minds and restrict their freedom. She said, "When I was working in the court in East Germany, I heard such stories from time to time, like one man got drunk in a bar and told a joke. Then he was arrested. There were more people jailed because they didn't agree with government. From my experiences, even if the Falun Gong practitioners didn't appeal to the Chinese central government on April 25 1999, the Communist Party would have found another excuse to persecute Falun Gong. The reason is Falun Gong promotes Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, but the Communist Party doesn't like that principle, and it will not tolerate so many people practising Falun Gong. "
Munich: 4.25 was a peaceful appeal, not an attack on the government
On April 25, Bavarian practitioners rallied in front of the Chinese consulate in Munich. Many of the passersby had already learned about the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong. They expressed their support for Falun Gong's peaceful protest and signed their names on the petition forms.
Practitioner Pan Huiqin participated in the 4.25 appeal in 1999. She said, "It seems like it just happened. It made that deep of an impression on me."
She remembered that many practitioners gathered at the National Appeals Office on that date. "Some of the practitioners brought some food, so they also carried a small plastic bag to hold their trash. The ground was very clean, because no one threw any garbage on the ground. Practitioners reminded each other to be good citizens at all times. Later, in order to not obstruct traffic, only two rows of practitioners stood near the edge of the pavement, while others sat or stood near the wall to read or rest. When someone was tired, another would fill in that position." It was all very tidy and orderly. Passersby could walk on the pavement, and the cars could drive on the road. The traffic was not affected.
"The 4.25 appeal was not 'an attack on Zhongnanhai.' The Chinese Communist Party's propaganda is a complete lie."
