Famous for its sunlight and warmhearted people, Mexico, located in North America, is a country with a long history. Before the Spanish invaded this land in the 16th century, Mexico was ruled by the Aztec empire, which had advanced astronomy, a calendar, building technology, and a rich cultural heritage. In recent years, Falun Gong, which is rooted in Chinese culture and has a long history, has become popular in this country.
Falun Gong, also called Falun Dafa, is a Buddha school cultivation method based on the principal of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It teaches people to cultivate their minds and to be good. It also helps people have healthy bodies. Since May of 1992, it has been embraced in over 100 countries and is practised by over 100 million people all over the world. In November 2001, Falun Gong was introduced to Mexico for the first time. After only a few years, it is now deeply rooted in Mexico.

The initial printing of 5000 copies fell short of the demand and additional printings were required. Written in the local language, all of the large bookstores in Mexico also ordered the Spanish version of Zhuan Falun.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and Jiang's regime began persecuting Falun Gong in July 20th, 1999. To date there have been at least 3,400 confirmed deaths of Falun Gong practitioners who were persecuted. In addition, hundreds of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been sent to jail or to forced labour camps. Several thousand practitioners were forced into mental hospitals and given injections that destroy the central nervous system. Countless practitioners were sent to brainwashing centres. Many were forced to become homeless in order to avoid the persecution. It has been revealed that, while in the forced labour camps, Falun Gong practitioners' organs were harvested while they were still alive and sold for profit.
Congressman practises Falun Gong and declares support
The ringleader who caused this brutal persecution - Jiang Zemin - visited Mexico in October 2002. The truth of the persecution became widely known by the Mexican populace. Mexican Congressman Mr. Acosta Salazar held a press conference in the Mexican Congress, and declared his support for those who were against the CCP persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Three television stations, three radio stations, and several news agencies attended this press conference.

Mr. Acosta Salazar explained to the media that he suffered backaches for a long time. Once he learned about Falun Gong, he wanted to practise. He said Falun Gong was a very effective cultivation way based on the characteristic of the universe, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He showed the media the DVD “The Testimony” and the magazine Compassion. He stressed that much evidence showed that the Chinese Communist Party and Jiang's group use horribly cruel methods to persecute Falun Gong. But all that is not allowed to happen in Mexico.
Congressman Acosta Salazar mentioned the 188 Bill passed by the US Congress to condemn the persecution of Falun Gong. He said he would try to pass a similar bill in the Mexican Congress. He stressed to the media that the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs would make a request to the United Nations to examine the persecution of Falun Gong happening in China. He himself would propose that the members of the Mexican National Assembly ask the Foreign Affairs Department and Mexican President Mr. Fox to show that they are strongly against the persecution of Falun Gong.
The Vice President of the Congress of Foreign Affairs Committee: We certainly will continue to pay attention to the persecution.
On October 26th and 27th, 2002, an APEC (Asian Pacific Economic Corporation) meeting was held at Los Cabos, Mexico. Falun Gong practitioners went to the Chinese consulate in Mexico to send righteous thoughts, presenting a peaceful protest against Jiang Zemin' bloody persecution of Falun Gong in China. The local Mexican newspaper, the BBC, Reuters, the France International Broadcasting station, and other international media reported on this case with remarkably lengthy articles.

The Vice President of the Mexican Congress Foreign affairs committee, Tarcisio Navarrete Montes de Oca, hosted this press conference. He said there would be more attention devoted to understanding the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

Many countries' media publicise the truth widely
Falun Gong practitioners continually clarify the truth and do other things to expose the persecution of Falun Gong. More and more Mexicans have gradually learned about the persecution of mainland Chinese Falun Gong practitioners. Many international media have also published reports detailing the despicable deeds and lies perpetrated by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

During the time of Hu Jintao's visit to Mexico, from September 11th to 13th, 2005, CCP officials tried many ways to hide the banners held by Falun Gong practitioners, so that Hu would not see them. But Falun Gong practitioners successfully showed their banners to Hu Jintao and his followers.
