On April 7th, 2011, Jia Qinglin, a high level official in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and an active participant in the persecution of Faun Gong, arrived in Canberra, Australia. Local Falun Gong practitioners held banners along the road from the airport to his hotel to protest his role in the persecution of Falun Gong.
At a little past 2 pm, a group of Falun Gong practitioners held banners on the lawn across from the front entrance of the Hyatt Hotel to protest his active participation in the persecution of Falun Gong. The banners displayed the messages: “Falun Dafa Is Great,” “Human Rights Villain Jia Qinglin Sued for Crimes of Genocide,” and “Stop the CCP’s Eleven-year Persecution of Falun Gong.” Motorists passing-by honked their horns to express their support.
Falun Gong practitioners continued their protest on the second day of Jian Qinglin's visit.
The Chinese Embassy arranged more than 50 Chinese students to welcome Jia Qinglin and his delegation. Appearing rather apathetic about their task, some chatted amongst themselves, while some sat on rocks and ate. After 5 pm, most of them had left.
Practitioners expose the facts
Two federal police officers came over and began a friendly conversation with the practitioners, asking them about where they were from and their reasons for protesting. One practitioner told them, “Falun Gong practitioners follow the principles of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance. Such a good practice is being persecuted in China.” The officers said they were familiar with the situation, having learned about it from the Internet and local news. Practitioner Ms. Changzhi Yue from Sydney told the officers, “I was imprisoned for four years in China for practicing Falun Gong. I was deprived of sleep frequently. Prison guards beat me. My teeth became loose, two of my ribs were broken, bruises covered my whole body and I was in danger of losing my life many times.” The police officers expressed sympathy and said they were glad that she was able to get out of China and life in safety in Australia.
Jia Qinglin is one of the eleven CCP officials who was investigated by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong for his participation in the persecution. He is also one the five culprits who was sued in the Spanish National Court for crimes of genocide and torture in the persecution of Falun Gong.
