July 1st, 2011 marks the 144th birthday of Canada. According to local media, there were 300,000 people gathered around Parliament Hill in Ottawa, celebrating Canada Day and welcoming Prince William and his wife from England. Local Falun Gong practitioners participated in the celebration on a bridge near Parliament Hill.
Practitioners demonstrated the exercises, performed traditional Chinese dance, waist drums, and lion dance, and sang. The Divine Land Marching Band also performed.

Many people were drawn to the exercises, and several followed along. Mr. Zhou Limin, a local practitioner, said, “Both Canadian and Chinese people are interested. Over the years, I have observed great changes in the Chinese people. Instead of refusing to listen to us like before, many of them now ask us for detailed information about Falun Gong, and some of them want to learn the exercises.”
The Divine Land Marching Band, consisting of Falun Gong practitioner from Montreal and Ottawa, played several songs, and was warmly received.
