On July 24th, 2011, Falun Gong practitioners gathered on the plaza in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery in downtown Vancouver, Canada, to host a photo exhibit exposing the 12-year-long persecution of Falun Gong in China. People were also able to sign a petition calling for an end to the persecution. Practitioners dressed in white gathered on the steps of the Art Gallery holding photos of practitioners killed in the persecution. The scene attracted many passersby.

Practitioners also collected signatures on a letter addressed to Prime Minister Stephen Harper who will soon visit Beijing. The letter asks Prime Minister Harper to raise the issue of ending the persecution of Falun Gong during his meeting with Chinese officials.
Many people already know about the persecution of Falun Gong in China and were quick to offer to sign the letter. Some asked how they could help. A local resident took some fliers to his company. He said the company has clients from many foreign countries. He wanted to let more people know about Falun Gong.
In a four hour period, a few hundred signatures were collected. A practitioner remarked that the result was well worth the effort.
