On September 17, 2011, a clear autumn day with crisp air, Falun Gong practitioners set up a table at the square in front of the Helsinki Central Railway Station. They also put up displays and banners with information about Falun Dafa. The practitioners arranged an exercise demonstration, with the slow, gentle exercise music playing. The setting formed a strong contrast with everything else on the noisy and busy square. Many people stopped to view the displays, and some signed the petition to protest the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

After signing the petition, Ulla said that she hoped her name could have an impact on ending the persecution, “This is too important.”
One middle-aged man stood for a long time in front of the displays showing the tortures used on Falun Gong practitioners. He later went to sign the petition. He said that he was from Libya, and after reading the cruel cases of persecution, he expressed his wish that the Chinese people would one day have a great future.
An Indian man came to ask for Falun Dafa fliers and inquire about the practice. The three guiding principles of Falun Dafa are Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance and he was curious about the principle “Tolerance”. A practitioner told him that it was about forgiving someone when he mistreats you, and not holding grudges, but still being kind to the person. The Indian man quickly nodded his head and agreed. He asked why the Chinese regime suppressed Falun Gong, and what the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party was. After he learned the facts, he expressed his gratitude many times before he finally left.
A girl from Hong Kong and her two friends watched the exercise demonstration for a long time. After taking the fliers she said, “I feel that Falun Dafa is quite good! There is no reason the Chinese regime should suppress a peaceful practice like this.” She said that she knew about the Chinese Communist Party’s autocracy and that people in China were not allowed freedom of speech and belief.
One man was shocked upon hearing about the brutal suppression in China, and commented, “The Chinese Communist Party is too evil. It will collapse for sure soon because lies are not meant to be forever.”
