On October 26th, 2011, many people in Douala, the largest city of Cameroon, Africa, were very happy to learn about Falun Gong from a group of practitioners who were visiting from the US. As the practitioners passed out fliers, some people even ran across the street or came out of their shops to get the information and learn more about the practice. Many also asked if there were any practice sites in Cameroon.
Many people were shocked to learn about the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong in China. Some also said that they did not like Chinese Communist officials coming into their country, exploiting all of their precious resources and treating workers unfairly.
When visiting a famous village in the area, practitioners met with the Fon, or king and queen of Cameroon, and presented a letter explaining the practice and the persecution. The king and queen were very grateful and accepted the package with a lotus flower and bookmark attached.
On November 6th, 2011, practitioners visited a convent for the Catholic nuns of Cameroon and gave copies of the Compassion magazine to Mother Superior and several senior nuns. The women were really impressed with Falun Gong’s high moral standards and very upset about the ongoing persecution in China. They were horrified to see photos of innocent practitioners being forced to give up their spiritual beliefs and being tortured just for being good people.
“This is really scary - the most evil thing ever. … We are very grateful to know the truth about this [Chinese communist] regime,” said Mother Superior.
The nuns said they wanted to set a special time to pray for those suffering in China.
