On November 27th, the annual Mississauga Santa Claus Parade was held on Queen Street. Seventy groups participated in the event. The Divine Land Marching Band, consisting of Falun Gong practitioners from Toronto, was warmly welcomed by the spectators.
A Western gentleman, who saw the parade last year, had high praise for the band. “Both their performance and costumes are the best,” he said
The parade took off around 1:15 pm after the heavy rain stopped. Many Chinese people said they were happy to see the Falun Gong group in the parade. Ms. Peng, who emigrated from China seven years ago, said, “Although it is cold and rainy, I am happy. I feel very proud when I see such a great Chinese group in the parade. You cannot see Falun Gong in China.” She said she wanted to learn more about Falun Gong.
Tina, a tourist from Hong Kong, was touched by the Falun Gong practitioners' spirit. “I am amazed that they are full of energy even on such a cold, rainy day.”
