Lessons from History: What Happens When Nations “Curry Favour with the Wicked Regime”

The founder of Falun Gong, Mr. Li Hongzhi published a new article on May 3, 2012, “To Choose.” It has profound meaning. My understanding of one sentence in the article, “Curry favour with the wicked regime, and you’ll be duped by demons” is that this is advising people to not curry favour with the wicked regime for short-term gain thus condoning the evil, eventually harming all mankind, including your own country's people.

Looking back over history, the lessons of harm setting and harm getting are indeed unforgettable:

During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period in Chinese history, in order to get immediate benefits, many countries not only did not stop the tyranny and militaristic and aggressive policy of the Qin State, but abetted it. Therefore, the Qin State became more and more oppressive. In the end, it eliminated the other countries and ruled China with tyranny and violence.

In the1930s, politicians in European countries, including politicians such as British Prime Minister Chamberlain, curried Hitler's favour with a policy of “appeasement.” Not only did they not stop Hitler's tyranny, military preparations and expansion, invasions of its neighbours and the slaughter of the Jews, but they repeatedly curried favour with Hitler. They also brought the 1936 Olympic Games to Nazi Germany thinking this would lead Hitler to the civilized world. However, Hitler not only did not appreciate it, but used the international event to showcase and validate Nazism and intensified his wrongdoings. Three years later in 1939, Hitler launched World War II. What's especially important to mention is: when some people disclosed the atrocities of the mass killings of Jews by the Nazi Party, the general public refused to believe it because there was no way of knowing the truth. As mainstream politicians continued to look the other way and pretend that they did not know, the Holocaust intensified.

In the 1970s, seeking re-election and to improve his status in the general election, U.S. President Richard Nixon took the initiative to curry favour with the CCP. He visited China and opened a dialogue between the CCP and international society, giving the CCP the chance to get out of it's isolated state. Afterwards, the CCP was able to expand and increase its influence. Today, the CCP not only has the ability to wantonly arrest Chinese people, but it is a threat to world peace. Nixon's establishing diplomatic relations with the CCP and helping it move to permanent status in the United Nations, was tantamount to inviting trouble. By helping the wicked regime, Nixon was subject to retribution and became the only impeached president in the history of the United States.

Since the beginning of this year, the U.S. government handed back to the CCP two Chinese (Wang Lijun and Chen Guangcheng) who went to the U.S. embassy and consulate seeking protection. The world's people who were closely watching were disappointed with the U.S. government. World famous human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng “disappeared” in broad daylight and the CCP continues to ignore questions from people around the world about him. Isn't this situation alone enough to show that the CCP is a rogue government? Would you believe any “promises” from such a government? Obviously, politicians are not naive enough to believe the CCP's empty promises, but they have been seduced by economic interests and benefits. In choosing benefits over justice they've sold out their conscience and principles.

With regards to the persecution of Falun Gong, the actions of many countries' governments seem to “curry favour with wicked regime.”

Over the past thirteen years, politicians from western countries all know that the persecution of Falun Gong has been very serious, but practical benefits lured them into a deal with the CCP – they can privately talk about the persecution of Falun Gong, but they can never publicly criticize the regime.

For the rogue CCP as with all evil, privately talking about the persecution does not work at all. With no open media coverage and no public voice of criticism, the CCP does not care at all. Therefore, for many years, the private talks with the CCP by those western politicians who have been tempted and deceived by it, not only did not play any constructive role, but enabled the CCP to commit even more unbridled evil. Today, the CCP has not only further intensified the persecution of Falun Gong, but also dares to commit “the crime that has never been committed ever on this planet” by harvesting organs from live practitioners.

The CCP not only persecutes Falun Gong practitioners in China, but also exports the persecution and extends the persecution of practitioners overseas to places such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe and the United States.

Moreover, the CCP uses it's entire state force to suppress the universal moral values of Truthfulness- Compassion-Forbearance. It oppresses kindness and advocates evil and violence. It devastates people's fundamental moral values, thus seriously endangering all humanity.

The horrific consequences are closely tied to politicians currying favour with the wicked regime.

Humanity is in need of moral integrity. Humanity is in need of peace. Humanity is in need of health and prosperity. Fundamentally speaking, the world needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. However, to curry favour with the wicked regime is condoning and abetting the evil, which is also a crime against humanity. Those in power need to open their eyes and learn from history!
