Dafa practitioner Jiang Wenyi, male, was a Master's degree graduate of South China University of Technology, an assistant professor in the School of Architecture and an associate director of the Sub-Tropical Research Institute. In 2001, he was awarded an "Outstanding Faculty Member" certificate by the university for his excellent work. In 1999, he was arrested at the airport on his way to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.

Jiang Wenyi had assumed a very important role in teaching and research at the university. He was also recognized as an individual of high moral standards and integrity. But people from Guangzhou City "the 610 Office " [An agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] disregarded the social impact of its actions. They arrested Jiang Wenyi in September of 2001 and forcibly sent him to the Guangzhou City brainwashing centre. After Jiang Wenyi was arrested, his teaching, research and design work were all forced to stop, which was a tremendous loss to the university.

With an 8-year-old daughter and unemployed wife at home, Jiang Wenyi's illegal detention is a huge burden on the family, a family that used to be very happy before the incident.

Jiang Wenyi has upheld his belief in Falun Dafa under the high-pressure persecution from the "the 610 Office " for as long as ten months. He is suffering unimaginable mental and physical torture. We hope everybody will pay attention to his suffering and help him reunite with his family as soon as possible.
