By a practitioner in Germany, August 20, 2002
Embassies and mass media are important windows for a country to transmit information in foreign countries. Therefore, one of the most important missions for a diplomat is to collect and analyze information. We didn't pay attention to that in the past. Yet, last June, we happened to know that the 30 embassies in Berlin would jointly sponsor the "Open Day" activity on June 30, inviting the general public to visit their embassies in order to help people better understand their countries' customs and cultures as well as the embassies' function.
The practitioners in Berlin quickly organised several teams to visit the 30 embassies respectively. According to the feedback from those who participated, some of them met the ambassadors while others met the assistants to the ambassadors, their first secretaries or the second secretaries. Generally speaking, our practitioners talked to them in a pleasant atmosphere, and presented to them materials concerning the persecution, in addition to introducing Falun Gong to them. Some of the practitioners even established friendships with the staff, which is of help to our practitioners for further clarifying the truth to them afterwards. Some of the practitioners told us that some staff members had finished watching all the films on the truth-clarification CDs, and translated the letters and materials we handed to them into their official languages and forwarded them to their ministries of foreign affairs. Some of the staff members were shocked by the truth of persecution after reading our materials, though some of these countries still maintain cordial relationships with China. Some of the staff mentioned that it was not convenient for them to do something for us publicly at the moment, but they would be willing to help us privately when a proper opportunity arises.
Hong Kong's "political trial" case provides us with another great chance to clarify the truth to foreign governments. As our Teacher mentioned in The Lecture at the Mid-U.S. Fa Conference (Unofficial translation), "he scoundrels'every sabotage used by the evil to harm us is actually a promotion for us."The practitioners in Germany wrote to some 140 embassies, and they sent most of the letters to these embassies in person. Apart from the letters and materials to the ambassadors, whenever they visited the embassies, they brought along the materials concerning Hong Kong's case and Dafa newspapers for the staff of the embassies.
