On August 9, 2002, the Cambodian police forced the return to China of two Falun Gong practitioners, Li Guojun and his wife, Zhang Xinyi, who had worked in Phnom Penh, and had applied for the identity of asylum from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. It is said that the Cambodian police acted under pressure from the Chinese Embassy in Phnom Penh. In China, the persecution of peaceful, spiritual Falun Gong practitioners, who try to live up to the noble principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, [a persecution which was] started by Chinese president, Jiang Zemin, has been going on for over three years and he intends to extend the persecution to other countries.
I feel extremely shocked and concerned. With all my respects, I protest against the Cambodian authoritys action that seriously contravenes the UN Refugee Convention. It hurts. I sincerely hope that your government will take necessary action to return Li Guojun and Zhang Xinyi to Cambodia as soon as possible. Please, do not let this happen again.
Sincerely,
