On September 15, 2002, practitioners from Sydney joined those in the Australian capital, Canberra, for a weekend of truth clarification to visitors from Mainland China and the local populace.
In downtown Canberra, Dafa practitioners performed and directed various musical and dance performances. A local westerner said, "Even though I could not understand, I could feel the very strong energy in your performance. It is peaceful and serene." Another local resident told practitioners, "Your performance is so beautiful. I have been sitting here for two hours and I don't want to leave." Practitioners from Canberra and Sydney unfolded the "Falun Dafa is Good" banner and colourful flags with letters of "Falun Dafa," "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance" in front of the Chinese Embassy, in the federal park and around the fountain. They practiced the exercises slowly and gently with the exercise music playing softly in the background. They also did Fa Zheng Nian [rough translation - sending forth righteous thoughts. This can be understood as a type of meditation] together at the beginning of each hour. The practitioners attracted the attention of many passers-by.
At the Beijing Culture Festival, stationed near the Canberra Floral Show, a few Dafa practitioners volunteered to help the owner of the Chinese artworks booth with English and Cantonese translation. They left the booth owner with a great impression of Dafa and Dafa practitioners. Some practitioners talked to the staff from the Beijing Performance and Exhibition Groups. The atmosphere became more and more harmonised. Staff members who had spoken against us a few days ago had changed their attitudes. A practitioner said, "We truly hope we could have the opportunity to see each other again in the future. The incident of 'Self-Immolation in Tiananmen Square' was staged. Please remember Falun Dafa is Good and keep Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance in your heart. Doing so, you will have a great and happy future." The staff quietly listened and finally answered with sincere smiles, "Ok!"
Along the lakeshore, at the site of the 2002 Canberra International Kite Festival, over seven hundred kites were flying in the sky. Practitioners designed hand-made kites with the letters of "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance" and kites with tails made from "Falun Dafa Is Good" banners. They flew these kites high in the sky, making for a very beautiful sight.
