Ancient harp, chess, calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting are the four traditional arts loved by traditional Chinese ladies and gentlemen.
Weiqi was similar to Chess and spread to Japan in the Sui Dynasty. It was in white and black colours and there were 180 pieces on each side. It must be played by an odd number. In ancient China the chess board had 13, 15, 17 circles. In the Tang Dynasty it developed into 19 circles.
