It was reported on December 6, 2002, that after Zheng Jiming pleaded guilty in the Circuit Court of Cook County in Chicago on November 13, new information has been uncovered regarding the incident in which Falun Gong practitioners were assaulted in front of Chicago's Chinese Consulate. On December 5, 2002, Weng Yujun, another criminal who assaulted Falun Gong practitioners, pleaded guilty in the Cook County Circuit Court. He was sentenced to one and a half years of supervision.

About 1 a.m. on the morning of November 5, 2002, when Weng Yujun came out of the offices of the former Chen Pao, a pro-Chinese ruling Party newspaper, he was arrested by waiting police officers.
In September 2001, as Chicago Falun Gong practitioners were conducting a peaceful relay hunger strike appeal, they were assaulted by Zheng Jiming, Weng Yujun and another person. Zheng and Weng violently beat practitioner Mr. Fang Lin, who had joined the hunger strike. They also acted in a lewd and indecent manner to insult a female practitioner. Before they drove away in panic from the spot, they further threatened practitioners, saying, "If you report this, I will kill you." In the court of law, both of the two criminals who assaulted Falun Gong practitioners pleaded guilty.
It is reported that the background of this case is rather intricate, and that someone from behind the scenes looms large. There are more people than these two thugs involved in this case, which has received extensive attention from different circles. We believe that more developments will be forthcoming.
