Ms. Dai Dongxue, a Dublin resident today called for help to free her sister Dai Xialing from Jinan Labour Camp in China; "My sister Xialing has been imprisoned simply because of her belief." said Ms. Dai. "Like me, Xialing is a practitioner of Falun Gong, a spiritual practice which is banned in China, hundreds of people have been killed because of their belief in Falun Gong, many thousands more have been detained without trial. I do not want to see my sister die in a labour camp." Ms Dai continued.
Ms. Dai also outlined the case of two students, Ms. Fang Yang and Mr. Liu Feng, registered in Dublin colleges who have been detained in China because of their faith in Falun Gong. Three organisations; Friends of Falun Gong, The Dublin Central Group of Amnesty International and the Irish Falun Gong Practitioners are staging a public appeal and news conference outside Dail Eireann, Kildare Street, on Tuesday December 10 at 1.00pm.
Many of these activists were involved in the successful campaign to free Trinity College student Zhao Ming earlier this year.
