At 9 a.m., Falun Gong practitioners went together to the Chinese Liaison Office. However, the liaison office building was blocked with thick iron chains, without even leaving a walkway. Many security personnel and staff members of the office stood on the other side of the iron chains. More than 10 reporters were denied entry to the building. There were reporters from Hong Kong Radiovision TV station, Asian TV station, a cable TV station, radio station, the East newspaper, the Macao Chinese Newspaper, and Modern Macao Daily.
Making good use of the opportunity, practitioners held a press conference. They explained the reason, purpose and significance of this event. Since last November, there have been 43 Falun Gong practitioners tortured to death in China, and it is believed that there are more death cases that have not been reported because of the information blockade in China. Practitioners also read aloud their petition letter to the Chinese Liaison Office entitled, "Demanding China to Stop Killing Falun Gong Practitioners". They also distributed copies of their petition letter to the reporters and police officers. The practitioners then talked with reporters and answered their questions. Later, the practitioners asked the Chinese Liaison Office to send a representative to accept the letter, but the office did not respond.
On the evenings of both January 13 and 14, Macao practitioners carried out candlelight vigils at the park across from the Chinese Liaison Office to commemorate Dafa practitioners who had their lives taken for trying to let people know the truth about Falun Gong.
