Wuhan City Authorities Attempt to Indict Four Falun Gong Practitioners

Hongshan District prosecutors in Wuhan City recently attempted to indict four practitioners, Mr. Peng Liang, Ms. Zhang Jingzhou, Mr. Liu Shehong and Mr. Ouyang Haiwen. Mr. Peng Liang and Mr. Zhang Jingzhou were arrested on December 13th, 2010, as they posted the message “Falun Gong is good” on the outer wall of the Wantong Driving School in the Dongxihu District. Plainclothes police agents who were staked out nearby made the arrest. Under the instruction of the Wuhan City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), the two practitioners were taken to the Wuhan City Police Department's Domestic Security Division, where they were subjected to sleep deprivation and beatings. They were later held in the Hongshan District Detention Centre. -
Mr. Chen Shiming Suffers Memory Loss and Physical Disability After Forced Injections of Unidentified Drugs
2011-04-23Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Shiming was arrested in July 2010. It was the fifth time Mr. Chen has been arrested. While he was imprisoned, he was subjected to forced injections of an unknown drug. He has since suffered from memory loss, inability to stand steadily, and he is no longer able to take care of himself. In September 2001, Mr. Chen was arrested for distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. He was held at the Danling Detention Centre for more than a month, then secretly taken to the Mianyang Forced Labour Camp. He was subjected to the “half squat” torture (the victim is forced to squat down with legs apart and both arms raised forward parallel to the ground), physical abuse, detention in a small cell and forced labour. -
79-Year-Old Ms. Li Weixian Passed Away in 2007 After Repeated Abuse by the Authorities
2011-04-23The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999. Ms. Li went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in October 2000 at the age of 72. In June 2003, Ms. Li was taken to the Shangfangshan Brainwashing Centre. In May 2004, police ransacked Ms. Li's home. The police confiscated Falun Gong books. Ms. Li was terrified and was under pressure from the police and the community for a long time. It exceeded Ms. Li's limit of endurance. Her health started to deteriorate and Ms. Li passed away on June 1st, 2007 at the age of 79. -
Harbin Falun Gong Practitioner Zhang Lihua Sentenced to Six Years in Prison
2011-04-23Mrs. Zhang Lihua is a Falun Gong practitioner from Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. On March 24th, she was sentenced to a six-year prison term. Zhang Lihua is currently appealing to the upper-level court, indicating that citizens' freedoms of religion and belief are protected by the Constitution. She maintains her innocence and believes she was charged only because she believes in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She is requesting an unconditional release. She is also requesting compensation according to the State Compensation Law so that her legitimate rights and interests will be reinstated. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Wang Xuemei Persecuted by Officials from Dandong City Women and Children's Hospital
2011-04-23Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Xuemei was a nurse. After Falun Gong was suppressed by the Communist regime in 1999, the head of the hospital fired Ms. Wang Xuemei and stopped paying her basic wages. As a result, Ms. Wang and her daughter have been placed under severe financial hardship. In 2000, Ms. Wang was detained in a mental institution with the most severely disabled mental patients. Zhao Chunlin, a doctor, shouted at Ms. Wang, “I discussed your situation with Party official Fan Li. We will give you medication today.” She immediately questioned him, “I am not ill, I am a normal person, what right do you have to administer medication?” -
Ms. Wang Fang Persecuted to Death After Surviving Brutal Persecution in Wanjia Forced Labour Camp
2011-04-22Ms. Wang Fang survived the brutal persecution which she was subjected to on June 20th, 2001, at the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. She was released from the labour camp after two years of detention, arrested again, and held in the Mudanjiang City Detention Centre. On June 14th, 2002, she as transferred to the Hailin City Detention Centre. On September 8th, 2002, she was sent to the Harbin City Women's Prison where she suffered severe torture and became emaciated. Two months after being released from prison she passed away at the age of 46, on September 24th, 2004. -
Wuhan City Police Pull Out 76-year-old Lady's Hair
2011-04-22Ms. Liu Zhulan, 76, is from Wuhan City. At the end of March she went to the forced labour camp to pick up her daughter, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Weifang, and bring her home. Ms. Liu was brutally beaten by Hanjiadun Police Station officers, who pulled out a lot of her hair. Ms. Yang Weifang was sentenced to one year in a detention centre for practising Falun Gong. -
Teacher Ms. Gao Shuying from Heilongjiang Province Has Repeatedly Suffered Persecution
2011-04-22Gao Shuying is an English teacher at the No. 3 Middle School of Tahe County. During the past ten years, because of practising Falun Gong and following the principle of Truth- Compassion- Forbearance, she has been arrested by local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) staff members. Several times, she was detained at the Tahe Detention Centre, Beian Mental Hospital, Shuanghe Forced Labour Camp of Qiqihar city and suffered torture and brutal persecution. She was force-fed, forced to work, beaten up, kept in a cold environment, and suffered other abuses. Because of her situation, her mother and children also suffered countless difficulties during the past ten years. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Pan Xujun Brutally Persecuted in Hongzehu Prison in Jiangsu Province
2011-04-22Falun Gong practitioner Pan Xujun was an English teacher at the Junior High School in Pei County. He was arrested in September 2002 and sentenced to nine years of imprisonment by the Pei County Court. He suffered brutal persecution at Hongzehu Prison in Jiangsu Province. He was deprived of sleep, police used a syringe to inject water into his nostrils and eyes, many of his bodily functions were damaged and he became severely disabled. His cervical vertebra and lumbar were deformed and he was extremely weak. Mr. Pan was released in November 2010. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Chen Shiming from Meishan City, Sichuan Province, Died as a Result of Torture
2011-04-21Practitioner Mr. Chen Shiming from Meishan City, Sichuan Province, died on April 10th, 2011 as a result of torture. He had repeatedly been arrested and tortured before he passed away. In July 2010, Mr. Chen was arrested and sent to a forced brainwashing centre where he was injected with unknown drugs that caused memory loss and left him dependent on others to care for him. -
Lu Guiqin Driven Insane by Persecution at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp
2011-04-21Practitioner Ms. Lu Guiqin was arrested and taken to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City on December 28th, 2010. Her family was notified on March 17th, nearly three months after her arrest, that Ms. Lu had become insane and was unable to recognise people. The guards extorted 3,000 yuan from the family before they let them take her home. She has still yet to recover. Ms. Lu Guiqin and Ms. Liu Guiping were arrested by police while they were explaining the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong on the afternoon of December 18th, 2010. -
Former Industrial and Commercial Bank Employee Persecuted Repeatedly
2011-04-21Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cao Xiongbin was arrested and detained soon after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong. He was sentenced on two separate occasions to three years of forced labour, and additionally, three years of imprisonment. Mr. Cao was beaten and tortured during his imprisonment. He was physically weakened, often resulting in life-threatening conditions. He continues to suffer from pain in his chest, and sometimes experiences nightmares. -
Husband and Wife Arrested Repeatedly and Subjected to Persecution
2011-04-21Falun Gong practitioner husband and wife An Fengbo and Han Shuang were arrested by police on March 16th. They are currently detained in Jilin City Detention Centre. Since 1999, when the persecution of Falun Gong began, An Fengbo has been arrested and detained several times, and he has been sent to forced labour camp twice. In the labour camp he was severely persecuted for refusing to give up his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He suffered intense physical punishments including beatings, wearing handcuffs and shackles, his limbs tied together, tied to a metal chair, and punitive force-feeding. He has been severely tortured physically and mentally. -
Guards in Shandong Province No. 2 Forced Labour Camp Instigated Criminals to Viciously Assault Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Song Shufu
2011-04-20Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Song Shufu was sentenced to three years of forced labour in May 2008. While incarcerated in Shandong Province No. 2 Forced Labour Camp he was brutally beaten by other prisoners. Mr. Song, in his 40s, had only two teeth when he was released. He recounts: "Because I refused to write the three statements to renounce practising Falun Gong, the guards ordered a prisoner to beat me. He used a table tennis paddle to slap my face. A guard woke up all the prisoners who were sleeping and ordered six or seven of them to take turns beating me. Later they stripped me and used my shirt to tie me to the pole between the upper and lower bunks and continued beating me." -
Looking Back Ten Years -- Eyewitness Account of the Notorious "319 Incident" – Several Days of Particularly Brutal Persecution in Dalian Forced Labour Camp
2011-04-20Ten years ago, on March 19th, 2001, the officials and guards at the Dalian Forced Labour Camp initiated a brutal mass persecution of Falun Gong practitioners who were detained there. It was called the “319 Incident” by local practitioners. I was one of them. "Body Folding" is a torture that is often used by the guards to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The practitioner’s upper body and legs are forced to form a 90-degree angle; his legs are kept straight and his head points downward. His arms are raised high from behind his back to the maximum extent. Staying in this posture even a very short time leads to profuse sweating. The guards then brought out the electric batons to shock us. My hands were shocked numerous times.
