Romania: The Rude and Violent Actions of Representatives from the Chinese Embassy Shock the Media and the People (photos)

The famous Chinese painter Zhang Cuiying, was invited to hold an exhibition in an art museum in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. The exhibition was scheduled to take place from March 31st to April 3rd 2003.

Mrs. Cuiying’s art exhibition frightened some government representatives from the Chinese Embassy. Several Chinese Embassy staff members used underhand and illegal means in an attempt to stop this exhibition. Firstly they employed threatening and intimidating behaviour, which was soon seen to be ineffective. They then unexpectedly came to the exhibition hall to disturb the opening ceremony. They not only distributed false information that the Romanian government is against Falun Gong, but also pushed and assaulted the organiser of the painting exhibition, forced all of the spectators to leave, grabbed the photographer’s camera, and closed the exhibition using force. Everything that happened was recorded by reporters who were attending the ceremony.

One person working with the media saw the information that the Chinese Embassy accredited to Romania. He then took the information to the Romanian Chinese Embassy for verification. A secretary, named Zhao De Yong, attended to him at the Embassy. Zhao De Yong admitted immediately that the information was printed and distributed by the Chinese Embassy. He then signed his name on the document and gave his business card to the media worker.

After the exhibition was disturbed and forcibly closed, the painter Zhang Cuiying and the organiser of the painting exhibition went to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Romania to explain what happened. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs could not believe that it was true. One official said, “If there exists evidence (referring to the Chinese Embassy’s actions), the problem then becomes quite serious. Such a disturbance is, at the lowest level, a criminal offence. You should have called the police at the time.”

On April 4, Zhang Cuiying and some Romanian Falun Gong practitioners held a press conference in front of the Victory Guest House to tell the truth about this event and make the evidence known to the public. At the press conference, Romanian television stations “Pro TV” and “Real TV” conducted an interview, as did reporters from over 10 newspapers in Romania.

At the end of the 90-minute press conference, one person from the Australian Embassy accredited in Romania, which is far away from Bucharest, made a call to express her regards and concerns for this event and for artist Zhang Cuiying who is from Australia. We gave our thanks to her and invited her to attend the painting exhibition to be held in Romania the following Monday.

The Falun Gong Associations in various countries in Europe exposed the ugly conduct instigated by the Jiang regime. Zhang Cuiying’s painting exhibition has been held in more than 100 cities in over 30 countries. As she is a Falun Gong practitioner, her work reflects the power of compassion and enjoys worldwide popularity. This makes Jiang Zemin, the instigator of the persecution of Falun Gong, exasperated and continuously agitated, and so he orders his employees to break the law in their attempts to stop the truth being revealed. Everything done by the evil is in vain. The crude behaviour of the Chinese diplomats has made many good people clearly see their true face.
