Signature-Collecting Activity on a the Street in Scotland

Dafa practitioners in Glasgow and Edinburgh, Scotland have begun collecting signatures for the “Rescue Our Family Members and Bring Them Home” campaign in their free time. The effect has been very good. More and more people have come to know about Falun Dafa more deeply and more correctly in this activity, which has established a glorious future for themselves from now on. Our practitioners also had quite a few realizations and improvements in their understandings from this event.

Practitioners from Glasgow came to the city centre for the signature-collecting activity every weekend. Being aware of human rights violations from the media, many passersby came to our stand right away to enquire enthusiastically, and more than 200 people signed their signatures that day. One local person said, “You’ve done a good job exposing this evil to the public. Surely one day this evil will be brought to account.” There was another lady who came to enquire about Falun Gong. When hearing of the cruel persecution in Mainland China, she went to a library in the neighborhood for a copy of a poem to express her admiration and sympathy toward those tens of thousands of Dafa practitioners locked up and tortured. The main idea of the poem was that “The window with iron gratings and high walls cannot lock up a man’s belief nor can it lock up a man’s aspiration and yearning for justice.” There was another story of three high school students who had tears in their eyes when signing their names, “What they ( the Chinese government) did was terrible! How disgusting!” Then they said that there were teachers responsible for International Amnesty Organization in their school and they’d like to take a couple of signature-collection forms to help with the campaign. Pure children, pure hearts, good ordinary people, justice and conscience, things like that make up each touching story…

At the same time, a group of Chinese people surrounded our stand on a street in Edinburgh, some of whom were listening quietly to practitioners clarifying the truth while some of them lined up to sign their signatures. One of them said to everyone buoyantly, “Falun Gong is good. I just want to sign my name. What is there to be afraid of?” Another girl standing aside read seriously our Dafa materials and said goodbye to us by waving her hand containing the materials which clarify the truth. It is commendable that Chinese have started to change (their attitude toward Dafa) while foreigners are even more aglow with enthusiasm. It attracted a lot of attention with the colourful banners for “The world needs Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance”, “Stop the persecution of Dafa practitioners”, some photos of those persecuted friends and family, and some big posters with detailed stories on them. It’s common for family groups to surround the stand to sign their names, among whom are parents with their kids, the elderly, and children from the age of 6 or 7. They all said “Thank you!” and “Good luck to you!” after signing their names and taking the truth materials. We at times even found flowers or sweets left on the desk. Some foreigners approached us to donate money right away. After our explanation that everything for Falun Gong activities is voluntary and free of charge, they felt even more admiration for Dafa. There were still some visitors taking photos of our activity while walking, or photos of our stand or banners as mementos.

The above described are a few impressive fragments among all those during the activity. We were especially touched by our observation that there are more and more Chinese changing from being indifferent a couple of years ago, looking afraid and agitated, who now read Dafa materials in a positive way and stand up and say something good for Dafa. There are also people who saw us and felt we were like familiar friends for many years, saying “I’ve finally found your Falun Gong. Would you give me some more of the materials? I’d very much like to know more…” They are all gradually waking up. We Dafa practitioners should devote ourselves more to Fa-rectification work to save the sentient beings of the future. We should do a good job in the activity of rescuing overseas friends and family. It is to make practitioners inside Mainland China and those overseas unite as one body, to upgrade together, and to assist with the Fa-rectification.
