Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Liu Jinshan Tortured to Death in Heilongjiang Province

Falun Dafa Information Centre January 29, 2003 report: According to news from Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, Falun Gong practitioner Liu Jinshan, a resident of Shuangjiashan City, was tortured to death after suffering more than five months of torture in a detention centre.

According to the news source, Liu Jinshan was a 56-year-old male construction worker in Shuangyashan City. In April 2002, neighborhood policemen asked him to submit his photograph for their Falun Gong practitioners' profile. Liu refused and as a result was then detained in the Shuangyashan City Detention Centre. He was released after 15 days on a hunger and fluids strike. The detention centre ordered Liu to pay a 150 Yuan "food fee." Liu didn't have the money so a police officer wrote him a bill and Liu signed it. After returning home, Liu thought it over and realized the police were violating the law for illegally detaining him. He returned to the police station, got back the bill and tore it up. He said, "I didn't eat or drink anything in the detention centre. What kind of food money do I owe?" The police officer was enraged and later kidnapped Liu on returning from an out-of-town work assignment. After five or six months of torture in the detention centre, Liu was merely skins and bones and was on the verge of death. In order to avoid responsibility, the police drove him home in a police car on January 14, 2003. Two police officers laid Liu on the bed. At that time, Liu Jinshan could not open his mouth to speak or swallow food. He died at 7 a.m. on January 19, 2003.

Yesterday, police from the Anbang Town Police Station, Shuangyashan City admitted that they sent Liu Jinshan to a labour camp. They claimed, "He practiced Falun Gong, so of course we had to send him there." The police also revealed that Liu Jinshan could no longer speak before he was sent home from the labour camp.

It was learned that Liu Jinshan suffered from the final stage of diabetes in May 1999. In late May 1999, he started to practice Falun Gong and in just over a month, his illness went away! He was able to work for more than 10 hours a day. After July 1999, when Jiang outlawed Falun Dafa, he went to Beijing to appeal but was escorted back. In late December 2000, he again went to Beijing and unfurled a banner in Tiananmen Square that read, "Falun Dafa is Great."
