We are Falun Gong practitioners in Denmark. On this auspicious New Year Festival, we would like to express our sincere greetings to you, and wish you a happy New Year with good health and great success.
We are all from the same country and originate from the same nation, as we all are the descendants of the Yellow Emperor. Faith and destiny have united us together in Denmark. As we are away from our homeland, living in the West, brotherliness and care among friends have become more important. Therefore, we really cherish the chance to get to know you at this time. Although our beliefs may differ, and our paths of life are not the same, still there should be some space for us to be considerate of others, to respect the opposite side, and to show understanding and consideration for our compatriots.
In the past year, we have bumped into one other on the bustling streets, said hello to each other in our busy daily lives, or have even had heart-to-heart talks on the occasions when we were together with other friends. As Falun Gong practitioners, it is inevitable that our topics will include the persecution and oppression of Falun Gong taking place in our motherland. We have got a lot of sympathy and support from many kind-hearted friends; we have also candidly exchanged our views and doubts with many objective and unbiased people. Even if some of them currently still have misunderstandings about Falun Gong, or hold different views, many people have used their time and energy to sincerely exchange opinions with us. It signifies their concern and care towards Falun Gong practitioners. Your kindness and righteousness have given us enormous encouragement and comfort. We would like here to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our friends!
Among the Falun Gong practitioners in Denmark, some of them are middle-aged or elderly people who have experienced lots of ups and downs in their lives; others are diligent but unsophisticated students; still others are well-read Chinese culture lovers and westerners who grew up in their respective countries with entirely different cultural backgrounds. As Falun Gong practitioners, every one of us has an unforgettable experience based on the benefits of practising Falun Gong. Some of us have overcome and endured tremendous pain resulting from various illnesses within a short period of time. Some have rid themselves of tedious and worrisome lives, and are leading a peaceful, relaxing and happy life after practising Falun Gong. Each of us would like to tell you, from the bottom of our hearts, that this period of practising Falun Gong has been the most beautiful time in our lives.
However, in July 1999, the truly evil leader of the Chinese government ordered the suppression of Falun Gong, and used vicious means like the ones used in the Great Cultural Revolution to fabricate various lies to frame Falun Gong, which is a practice guiding people towards kindness and righteousness. Many domestic practitioners have become homeless, while others have been separated from their families, beaten or brutally tortured in prison, and even persecuted to death. We have never been in that kind of situation here in Denmark. However, simply because we told the truth and wanted to live by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance, we have lost all of our properties in China overnight, and our family members are deprived of their basic freedom. What’s more, some of us are deprived of the basic rights of visiting our terminally ill parents and attending their funerals (in China.) Furthermore, the citizenship of innocent newborn babies has also been seriously affected. The misunderstanding as well as the pressure and all kinds of suffering we have encountered for several years are indeed beyond explanation.
Over the past three years, tens of millions of Falun Gong practitioners, especially those in Mainland China, have done their best and even risked their lives to reveal the truth about Falun Gong to kind-hearted and righteous people. What we are demanding is simply to stop the persecution and restore the good name of Falun Gong and what we want is only to have the legal right to practise Falun Gong. In addition to that, we will never become involved with politics. Neither will we oppose any government or make any enemies whatsoever. We clearly understand that righteousness does exist in the hearts of humans even if some of them may be against us. In reality, many are at most deceived by the lies and believe them blindly. After realising that fact, those who are still willing to help in the evil persecution are few and far between. After all, we Chinese more or less believe in retribution, “good is rewarded with good, and evil is met with evil.” [an ancient Chinese principle]
As an old saying goes: “We should always remember what we received from others, and try to pay back much more than what we got from others.” Some people gave up their belief as a result of pressure or persecution, and some others collaborated with the persecutors. Those deeds are directly against the principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance”. It is tantamount to betraying their own conscience and demeaning the value of their lives. Falun Gong is impeccable as it is guiding people to cultivate towards kindness and to rectify the degenerating moral standard. Our mind has been purified through serious cultivation according to the principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance”. We have become more considerate of others, and deal with others from their perspectives without prejudice. If everyone behaves themselves with honesty, kindness and selflessness, our lives will be full of happiness and harmony, and worries as well as misfortune will then be much less. This is the key to the stability of a society and the prosperity of a nation. After all, morality is the only solution to human social problems.
Finally, to conclude let me quote these words written by a fellow practitioner: “The spring sunlight is all over your bodies, but we still feel the warmth at heart. It is the sincere love that makes our eyes brim with tears; it is our selfless love that makes us full of hope. We love these people because they used to be kind, upright and considerate of others. We do believe they will eventually return to their original true selves.”
