Whereas, Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is a world wide recognised body, mind and spiritual practice that offers great health benefits and principles which promotes contributing to society; and
Whereas, during the past three years, practitioners of Falun Gong in China have been labelled cultists, persecuted, arrested, beaten and treated inhumanely; and
Whereas, the Chinese government's actions against Falun Gong practitioners represent a severe example of the crushing of human rights and civil liberties; and
Whereas, the United States State Department condemned the action of the Chinese Government and asked China to respect freedom of thought, conscience, and religion and allow all persons to practise their religious [1] beliefs freely.
Now Therefore Be It Resolved that the Borough Council of the Borough of Forest Hills condemns the violence and repression against Falun Gong practitioners in China.
