Ms. Huang Juxiu, about 60, is retired from Yueyang People's Bus Company. She was arrested on her way home from shopping on the morning of September 2nd, 2012 by police officers and Luo Huiquan, a bus company security officer.
Ms. Huang was taken directly to the Laodaohe Brainwashing Centre in Changsha. There, she was taken to the third floor and confined. The guards ordered several collaborators (former practitioners, brainwashed against Falun Gong, made to assist in brainwashing and torturing practitioners) to monitor her, including Chen Mei, Yi Guijun, and Song Yuesheng. They played video and audio programmes defaming Falun Gong's founder and the practice around the clock. She was deprived of sleep and tortured. Certain acupuncture points were forcibly pressed without leaving any external marks. After this “massage,” she could not raise her right hand. Two and a half months have passed, but she still cannot raise her right hand. The collaborators said complacently, “We didn't hit you. It is called destroying a person by underhanded means.”
When collaborator Fan explained Falun Gong incorrectly, Ms. Huang corrected him, making him very angry. He slapped her in the face, breaking a tooth. The collaborators cursed and hit her for several days. Collaborator Wu ordered Ms. Huang to read books about Buddhism, but she refused. Wu then made her stand and slapped her face. Ms. Huang was beaten until she saw stars. Ms. Huang said to her, “You read Buddhist books. Don't they teach compassion? You curse and hit people. Is that what they say to do?” Wu was speechless.
Ms. Huang had congenital heart disease before practising Falun Gong. Her heart disease disappeared after she started to practise. After Jiang Zemin's, [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] regime launched the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Huang was sentenced to four years in prison in 2006 because she stood by her belief.
Ms. Huang was tortured in prison. The guards did not allow her to study the Falun Gong teachings or do the exercises, and her heart disease relapsed. On one occasion she had difficulty breathing. At that time, she felt dizzy and could not talk. The collaborators called a doctor to check her blood pressure, which was up to 150, plus she had tachycardia. Chen Mei did not let Ms. Huang see a doctor, saying that the prison had many kinds of medicine and she could take whatever she wanted. Ms. Huang said, “You are not a doctor. Can medicine be taken at will?” Chen Mei said, “How do you know I am not a doctor?” She insisted on preventing Ms. Huang from seeing a doctor. The prison did not send Ms. Huang home until she was on the verge of death.
After Ms. Huang was released, Zhang Xiehong from the Yueyang 610 Office forced Ms. Huang's son to write a guarantee statement to renounce practising Falun Gong and ordered him to monitor her. He said, “If you see anyone contact your mother, just hit them. I will be responsible if there is any problem.”
The Laodaohe Brainwashing Centre is also called “The Legal System Education Training Centre.” The Hunan 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) ordered police officers in all cities in Hunan Province to arrest many Falun Gong practitioners beginning on September 1st, 2012, and send them to the brainwashing centre. Ms. Jiang Meilan, 65, from Xintian County, Yongzhou City, was sent to the brainwashing centre. In just 23 days, she was tortured to death, dying on October 2nd. Ms. Jiang's body was covered with cuts and bruises from electric batons. Her mouth and inner organs festered and her lower body bled.
