Over 10 Practitioners Detained at Erehu Brainwashing Centre in Ziyang City

Over 10 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested on July 28th, 2012. They were taken to the Ziyang City Law Education Centre, also known as the Erehu Brainwashing Centre.

Personnel from the Jianyang City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the Sichuan Province Domestic Security Division carried out the arrests.

Elderly Mr. Ma Detained for Over Five Months

Mr. Ma Daiheng, 76, was arrested at home. Agents forced their way into his home and ransacked it. They also stole a few hundred yuan¹ in cash, which was Mr. Ma's and his wife's retirement income.

When Mr. Ma's wife returned home that night, she saw the mess left behind, but didn't know what had happened to her husband. None of the family were notified of Mr. Ma's arrest. His wife later found out that he had been taken to the Erehu Brainwashing Centre.

Mr. Ma was held at the brainwashing centre for more than five months before his arrest warrant was “officially” approved. Mr. Ma was then transferred to the Mahao Street Detention Centre in Jianyang City.

The authorities are planning to indict Mr. Ma as a political prisoner, even though Falun Gong practitioners have no interest in political power and do not pursue politics; they only want freedom of belief and a safe environment to practise spirituality.

Mr. Ma has lived a hard life, farming and teaching to make ends meet. As a result of various hardships and poverty, he developed different diseases. However, after he began to practise Falun Gong, his illnesses disappeared and he became healthy. He also became kinder, friendlier and more patient by following Falun Gong's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Nevertheless, he and millions of good people like him, have been brutally persecuted by the Chinese communist regime over the past 14 years.

Retired Ms. Wang and Others Arrested

Ms. Wang Hua, in her 60s, was also arrested on July 28th. Her home was ransacked, with police confiscating over 4,000 yuan in cash. Ms. Wang's husband, in his 70s and bedridden, was left unattended.

Ms. Wang was taken to the Erehu Brainwashing Centre and was detained there for over five months before her arrest warrant was “officially” approved. She was then indicted as a political prisoner and is now being held at the Anyue County Detention Centre.

Other practitioners who were arrested on July 28th include Mr. Wang and Ms. Li Niang, in her 60s. Both practitioners are from out of town and were in Jianyang City for work. They were taken to the Erehu Brainwashing Centre. Their current whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Wang Ying, in her 50s, was also among those arrested. Her whereabouts are unknown. Her family haven't been notified of the arrest or where she is being held.
