At 9 p.m. on July 1st, 2013, officers from the Wanghua District Police Department in Fushun City, Liaoning Province, invaded the home of Ms. Liu Chengyan in Wulaotun Village. They arrested her and confiscated her laptop, printer and other personal items.
In order to force a confession from Ms. Liu, police then force-fed her with hot sauce, which made her mouth swell.
Ms. Liu's husband, Mr. Yu Shanmin, wasn't home at the time and thus escaped arrest. However, he has since been forced to stay away from home and lead a destitute life.
Ms. Liu's son constantly cries, “Where is my mum?”
Ms. Liu's son, Yu Jixin, is two and a half years old . He was greatly traumatized by the arrest of his mother and cries for her every day.
At present, Ms. Liu is being held in the NanGou Detention Centre.
Other Practitioners Also Arrested
On June 30th, 2013, another Falun Gong practitioner from the same village, Ms. Lan Xinfang, was arrested by officers from the Wanghua District Police Department for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs [Shen Yun performance, a world-class traditional Chinese cultural show] in Lishida Market.
The police later ransacked her home and arrested her husband, Mr. Hu Yongzhen, as well as another practitioner with surname Ma, who happened to be at Ms. Lan's home.
Ms. Lan and Mr. Hu are still in police custody. The other practitioner was released after experiencing convulsions.
