Personal Account
-Tortured to Make Me Give Up My Belief
Around 4:00 p.m. on March 20th, 2012, I was arrested at the Shenyang Station by a group of unidentified people, who did not show me any documents. They then took me to a unidentified place. Three police officers took me to a room without windows and put me in an iron chair. They handcuffed my hands and shackled my feet in such a way that I was unable to move in the freezing cold chair. They slapped me in the face many times. Because I refused to respond to their questions, they kept hitting me and also shocked my legs and private parts with electric batons.
They loosened my shirt collar and poured cold water over me numerous times. Afterward, they blew air on me and made me suffer even more. Three police officers covered my head with something like a helmet and then hit it with a stick. One of them stabbed my fingers with toothpicks.
I was held in the iron chair until the next afternoon. In severe pain and not having had anything to eat, I was taken to the Xinggong Street Police Station. They gave me a physical and transferred me to the Detention Centre No. 1 in Shenyang City.
I was freezing cold and had cuts on my face. I had to endure the biting cold for three to four days, was not given anything to eat, and I was unable to talk. I believe that I could identify the three police officers who tortured me if I saw them again. When I asked them where they worked, they lied to me and said they are merely police associates.
-Health Issues as a Result of Torture
After being tortured I had high blood pressure, heart problems, and other symptoms. Detention centre officials gave orders that I be taken to a hospital for an exam.
Because my blood pressure was high and my heart rate was out of the normal range, a doctor urged them to take me to an emergency facility. There, my blood pressure was confirmed to be high, and a doctor suggested an IV. However, the police officers told the doctor that I was all right and took me to another hospital.
The officers told the doctor at the second hospital to fill out a form indicating that there was nothing seriously wrong with me. They did not even have him check my blood pressure. I vomited blood on the way back to the detention centre. When officials at the detention centre asked them about my condition, they stated that I was okay and quickly left.
I hereby request that the three police officers who tortured me for two days be identified and charged for what they did to me. I also request a through physical examination. At the detention centre, I was considered a high-risk inmate and had to wear a red vest to indicate that.
Because I am innocent, I request my immediate and unconditional release. I hereby entrust my mother to defend me in order to protect my legitimate rights as a citizen and file a legal complaint on my behalf.
