Practitioner Ms. Wang Guilan, who is in her seventies, lived in Huadian City, Jilin Province. She went missing in November 2013. Her family later learned that Ms. Wang had been taken into custody in the middle of the night by Yang Baolin from the Huadian City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), and taken to the Shahezi Brainwashing Centre in Jilin City.
The Huadian City Court sentenced Ms. Wang's oldest son Mr. Wang Xiaohu to a total of eleven years of imprisonment because he practised Falun Gong. He was first imprisoned in the Gongzhuling Prison, then transferred to Jilin Prison. Her second son Mr. Wang Xiaodong is also a practitioner. The Huadian City Court sentenced him to seven years in prison in 2006. He was locked in the Gongzhuling Prison and subjected to various tortures, including electric shocks, force feeding with petrol, repeated beatings, and being stretched on a rack. He was released in 2013. To avoid further harassment and persecution, Mr. Wang Xiaodong was forced to leave home and become destitute.
How Ms. Wang Guilan Was Taken Into Custody
Ms. Wang lived alone, and was awakened at 4:00 a.m. on November 16th, 2013, when officers from the 610 Office and Xinhua Police Station knocked on her door. She refused to open the door or go with the police, for she had not committed any crime.
The police had a woman pretend that she was director Cui from the Xinhua Community Office and ask Ms. Wang to open the door. She did, and a group of officers rushed in. One officer tried to pick up Ms. Wang and take her to a police car, but she refused to go.
The officer then called in the real director Cui from the Xinhua Community Office. Cui lied to Ms. Wang and said that she would be back in two weeks and that the place where she was going was very nice. Mr. Wang was then dragged into a police car and driven to the Shahezi Brainwashing Centre in Jilin City.
Ms. Wang cried and vomited while in the car. The woman who pretended to be director Cui told her, “It's not my fault, the 610 Office made me do it. There were a dozen police officers and vehicles surrounding your house. You couldn't have gotten away anyway.”
How Ms. Wang Was Tortured in the Brainwashing Centre
There were practitioners from other areas in the Shahezi Brainwashing Centre. Ms. Wang was put in a room where she couldn't see outside. The brainwashing sessions started at 8:00 a.m. daily. The content of the so-called lectures was material that slandered Falun Gong. After the lecture the practitioners had to watch more of the same videos until 11:30 a.m. After lunch, the practitioners had to watch the slanderous videos repeatedly from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and everyone had to write homework criticizing Falun Gong and the founder Mr. Li Hongzhi.
Yang Baolin, head of the 610 Office, recorded the practitioners' facial expressions. In every room were televisions playing the slanderous videos. After dinner, there were more brainwashing lectures from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
On one occasion Wang Honghai, the head of the 610 Office, and Shao Ling, a former practitioner, met with Ms. Wang. They told her, “See, we don't torture you here nor do we sentence you to prison terms like is said on the Minghui website. Why don't you go home now and have your second son Wang Xiaodong (the one who left home and became destitute after serving seven years in prison) come here and sign a guarantee statement. After that, we will never bother him again.” Ms. Wang refused to help, and said, “I don't know where he is. You have persecuted him and that is why he can't come home.”
Ms. Wang was then locked in the Shahezi Brainwashing Centre for 20 days, and released on December 6th, 2013. After she returned to Huadian City, she had lost her job because of her sudden disappearance, leaving her destitute.
