Mother Dies, Daughter Who Suffered a Mental Collapse Due to Torture Now on Her Own

Ms. Hu Fengying, 65, died on May 6th, 2014, after experiencing long-term persecution for practising Falun Gong.

Ms. Hu was arrested, then held at a detention centre and a brainwashing centre. She later became paralysed. She succumbed to the tremendous pressure and died on May 6th. Her daughter, who suffered a mental collapse due to torture, is now on her own.

Former Teacher Develops Mental Disorder

Ms. Hu's daughter, Ms. Deng Xiaomin, 36, graduated from Jiangxi Teacher's University and was an English teacher.

She was sentenced to three years in a forced labour camp in 2000 because she went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong. She was handcuffed and shackled for a month in the forced labour camp. The guards shocked her with electric batons until she lost consciousness. She was also forced-fed through her nose.

The guards handcuffed her to a bed and forced her to stand for more than two months. She was put in solitary confinement for over two years, and inmates were ordered to beat her. She suffered a mental collapse as a result of being tortured. She was released in March 2003 and has never recovered.

Her mother borrowed a lot of money over the past decade to find a cure for her daughter. She asked for help from the local government and residential committee, but they refused her.
