It is believed that Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yue Liangzhen was poisoned in a brainwashing centre with drugs that damage the central nervous system. After being released from the brainwashing centre, he suffered from amnesia, had problems with coordination, and became incontinent. He passed away on December 16th, 2014, at the age of 68.
Mr. Yue and his wife were arrested on November 12th, 2011, by officers from the Lingling District 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) who had been lying in wait. They took the couple to the Lingling District Brainwashing Centre.
It is unknown what Mr. Yue was subjected to in the brainwashing centre. Mr. Yue, who was healthy before, started experiencing memory loss in the centre. He couldn't even find his way to the toilet. His memory kept getting worse.
After being released, he had problems with coordination and often collapsed. He suffered from incontinence and couldn't walk, then became bedridden. He passed away on December 16 after three years of suffering.
The Minghui website has published many reports on practitioners being poisoned with toxic substances in brainwashing centres. This is often done to those who refuse to renounce practising Falun Gong. The drugs make steadfast practitioners unable to practise.
Mr. Yue was retired from the Lingling District Agricultural Bank. He started practising Falun Gong in 1995. His wife and son also started practising after witnessing his health improve.
The Chinese communist regime began its suppression of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999. Mr. Yue appealed to the regime multiple times for the right to practise Falun Gong, and was arrested and detained.
Officers from the 610 Office harassed Mr. Yue and ransacked his home in 2000. Mr. Yue and his wife had to leave home to avoid further persecution.
The 610 Office looked for them and circulated missing person posters. A reward of 5,000 yuan1 was offered for information regarding their whereabouts, and a reward of 50,000 yuan (~8,040 USD) was offered for locating them.
The 610 Office also pressured his employer and children. His older son and daughter were fired from their jobs as a result.
Mr. Yue and his wife returned home in 2008. The 610 Office often harassed them.
Mr. Yue Yingdong, Mr. Yue's son, was sentenced to nine years in prison in 2002, for producing materials about the persecution of Falun Gong.
