Wartburg City is a famous cultural city in central Germany. Many Chinese people know about it after China and Germany issued a commemorative set of matching stamps in memory of the Chengdu Summer Palace and the Wartburg Palace. Despite the fierce, on-going war in Iraq, the Wartburg Citys Cultural Bureau and the School of Further Education for Adults, with support from Falun Gong practitioners, held the Way to Peace-- Falun Gong Photo Exhibition which started on Wednesday. They hoped to present the development of Falun Gong [over the last ten years]. In the opening ceremony on Tuesday evening, Ms. Begg was interviewed by our correspondent.

The third and fourth parts of the exhibition display the peaceful campaigns launched by Falun Gong practitioners around the world, and portray the brutal persecution practitioners have suffered after it was banned in Mainland China.

Many people who got involved with the preparatory work and attended the opening ceremony are Falun Gong practitioners in Germany. They told our correspondents that four years ago Germans did not understand Falun Gong. As a result they misunderstood [Falun Gong]. Nevertheless, German society has gradually come to realise that [Falun Gong] typifies the oriental cultural spirit, and more and more people have come to know its characteristics of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, as well as the fundamental reason why it is not accepted by the totalitarian ruler.
The exhibition in Wartburg will last for three weeks.
