German Falun Gong practitioners have filed lawsuits against the German Federal government in the courts of Berlin, Potsdam, Dresden, and Brunswick respectively. Last April, the German government, facing pressure from the Chinese government, took excessive action against Falun Gong practitioners who held peaceful activities during the visit of Jiang [Zemin], the Chinese government’s chairman, to Germany. The activities included demonstrations and appeals. The actions [of the police] caused a strong reaction from the German media at that time. Falun Gong practitioners in Germany thus hired a lawyer to communicate with the Federal government and the Ministry of Domestic Affairs in the states involved. This week they took further legal action concerning this matter. On April 3rd, they held a press conference. Mrs. Zheng Zhi Hong, a legal scholar from Zhejiang University in China, opened the press conference.

(The report featured recorded speech of Mrs. Zheng Zhi Hong explaining the legal meaning of this lawsuit. Mrs. Zheng Zhi Hong stated that each of Jiang’s visits in Germany caused a disturbance, since he is afraid of the general public. She went into detail on this and elaborated on the lawsuits.)

This Tuesday and Wednesday, the lawsuits from Falun Gong practitioners in various places in Germany against the policemen in the German federal state, Brandenburg, Sachsen, and Niedersachsen, were handed over to courts in Berlin, Potsdam, Dresden, and Brunswick by lawyers. Reporters will continue to follow up and report on the progress of these lawsuits and their impact on Germany society.

The above was reported by Tian Yi, special correspondent for Radio Free Asia in Germany.
